THe UNC System WORKs BECAUSE WE DO!

UE Local 150 is a rank-and-file union fighting to improve the lives of GRADUATE, CAMPUS AND OTHER PUBLIC workers at UNC and across North Carolina.

The Workers Union at UNC chose to organize with UE Local 150 because of the union’s democratic, member-run processes and its roots on our UNC campus. We are a rank-and-file, member-driven labor union advocating for workers rights. Through solidarity, militancy, and democracy we are committed to the struggle for respect, safety, dignity and justice for the working class. We work for the wellness of all workers and seek to create workplaces that are safe, healthy, and comfortable. We want workers to have power in workplaces free of racism, sexism, classism, and ableism.

From the Janitor’s Association in the 1930s, the UNC food workers strikes in the 1960s, the UNC Housekeepers Association in the 1990s, to graduate student organizing today, UE 150 is a part of the rich history of labor organizing on UNC’s campus.
